At Wild and Free, we’re committed to supporting SEND children and their families. We founded a SEND community group, Hazelberry SEND Community CIC, based within our centre and beyond, focused on making play accessible and supportive for everyone, and also supporting SEND families as best we can.
We never put profit over accessibility. That’s why we run dedicated SEND sessions:
– WedSENDday every Wednesday
– Sunday SEND session from 12pm – 2pm
These quieter times give families the chance to enjoy the space in a calm, inclusive environment that works for them.
We have a small sensory area designed to be calm and soothing, with low lighting, sensory lights and equipment, and tactile wall panels. It’s a quiet space with comfy, child sized soft chairs, perfect for a break from the busier play areas.
We also offer a range of sensory equipment, including spinners, a bouncer, large sensory balls to bounce on, and more. These help children who need to regulate or seek sensory input while they play.
